Position Details:

 

A part-time position reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology, to answer the main phone line for Kilgore College and transfer calls to the correct extensions. Applicant should be well versed with phone systems, customer service and listening skills. This position will also occasionally provide telephone and online technical support to students taking online classes or accessing Kilgore College online services. Position is currently for a Monday through Friday morning to early afternoon position (8am-2pm) and will have a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

 

• Serves as a switchboard operator.
• Will assist at helpdesk when needed.
• Assists students, visitors, and staff on the phone or in the helpdesk.
• Answers the phone and transfers calls to correct departments or extensions.
• Assist with password resets and troubleshooting devices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

• Ability to use internet tools, Microsoft Office, and the ability to handle general phone calls or tech support calls in a courteous manner.
• Phone system skills.
• High School Diploma.
• Ability to interact with persons online, on the telephone, and in person.
• Dependable, trustworthy and punctual.
• Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

 

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Safety:

 

• Provide resources for safe operations of units. Create and support workplace safety, and technological protocols.

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

 

• The rate of pay is up to $13 per hour for up to 28 hours per week.
• Worker’s compensation.
• Participation in the retirement program through Teacher Retirement System of Texas. 

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. 

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
