Desi Fresh Foods is a leading “cultured” dairy manufacturer with 25+ years of experience. We produce high-quality and consistent products, which include yogurt (Dahi or Indian, Greek and traditional), smoothies/yogurt drinks, sour cream, and dips from single serve options to food service sides. We are currently seeking a skilled Production Supervisor to join our team and contribute to the ongoing success of our facility in Frederick County, Virginia!
About the Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual as the Production Supervisor who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the production floor. This role involves supervising production staff, ensuring efficient and effective production processes, meeting all production needs and production targets, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will support the Production/Mechanic Manager in monitoring and improving production productivity.
The ideal candidate has experience leading food or dairy manufacturing production operations at scale, driving both operational excellence and employee engagement, and continuously improving processes within the production department. This is an onsite role, managing all Line and Packing Operators, based out of Winchester, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Production Teams: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Line and Packing operators, ensuring effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Foster a positive and high performing environment. Temporarily fill in or cover production roles in the event of absenteeism, emergency, or operational demand.
Monitor Production Processes: Oversee daily production activities, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to meet production targets and deadlines. Set daily goals and objectives and drive safety, quality and efficiency initiatives. Participate in daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the assigned shift operations activities are aligned. Review CIP charts and process documentation to verify proper execution and compliance with the company, SQF, and regulatory standards. Identify and implement improvements to reduce waste and optimize throughput.
Quality Control: Ensure that products meet quality standards by working with quality, conducting regular inspections and addressing any deviations or defects promptly. Maintain compliance with food safety regulations.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and to enable proper food safety, conducting regular safety training and audits.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions and process inefficiencies, to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
Reporting: Prepare and analyze production reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to line efficiency, over-time, OOE, and safety, and provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics to coordinate production activities and resolve any cross-functional issues.
Business Continuity: Be willing to learn all major production positions within the facility, including line operations, batching, CIP procedures, packaging, and material handling.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering or related field preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing production experience and 3 years of supervision experience. Dairy experience is a plus, but not required. Willingness to modify work responsibilities, as necessary, to meet the operational, regulatory, or business needs of the company.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proficient in computer applications, including production management software (e.g., ERP system like Sage) and standard office applications (e.g., MS Office).
Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule required.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. This role has a pay range of $70,000 - $85,000 annually. The pay range provided is an estimated base pay range for this role. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, education, and location.
